Hello and thank you for reading my first blog post! I’m Carrie, an American teacher at the Kanbe school. Today I want to talk about one of my younger students’ favorite topics—Kirby! [星のカービィ] Kirby is simple to draw and a fun character everyone can recognize, so I like using him in lessons to make them more interesting.“What is this?” “It’s Kirby!” “Is that Kirby?” “No, it’s Waddledee!” Using these examples along with practical English words makes lessons much more engaging, and the kids have lots of fun when their favorite characters are involved. It’s easier to remember new things when they involve something you care about, and they get to express themselves with drawings that we use to practice grammar.

私は神戸校のアメリカ人講師、キャリーです。今日は年少の生徒様の一人がお気に入りの「星のカービィ」についてお話します。

カービィはみんなが知っていて描くのにとてもシンプルですので私はレッスンをより楽しくするためにカービィを使うのが好きです。

"What is this?" "it's Kirby!" "Is it Kirby?" "No, it's Waddledee!"などの英単語と一緒に使うことはレッスンをより魅力あるものにします。生徒様たちはお気に入りのキャラクターが使われるとすごく楽しめます。自分が知っている何かが使われると新しいことを覚えるのが一層簡単になります。さらに文法的な練習に描いた絵を使って表現をします。

But did you know that Kirby is very popular in America, too? I played some of the games and saw the anime as a kid myself! American cartoons and characters are usually sort of complicated, so Japan’s cute, round, and simple characters like Kirby and Pikachu became popular very quickly. So if you like Kirby and want to practice English at home, you can watch the Kirby anime in English online!

ところで皆さんはカービィがアメリカでとても人気なのはご存じですか？私自身もいくつかのカービィのゲームをしましたしアニメも子供のころ観ました。アメリカの漫画やキャラクターはたいてい少しばかり複雑です。ですので日本のカービィやピカチューのような可愛くて、まん丸で、シンプルなキャラクターはすぐに人気になりました。皆さんがカービィが好きで英語をお家で練習したいと思ったらオンラインで英語版のカービィをご覧になることをお勧めします。
